Dance photography

Today I am posting some pictures from my personal work (and non wedding related), which lately I don’t have the time to do as much as I would like.

These photos were taken at The Camera Club, one of the oldest photographic clubs in the world, to which I am a proud member. The Club runs regular workshops, one of them being the “Dance Group”. Once a month, a dancer comes to the studio and several photographers members of the Club will be taking photos there together.

In this occasion the dancer was Gaia Cicolani, an italian dancer, graduated with First Honour degree in the Contemporary Dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.

She performed for us while we took turns to take photos of her capturing her beautiful movement.

Cornwall Photography

I am posting some of my personal photography today for a change.

We went to Cornwall on May for a long weekend and these are some of the images I captured there.

Cornwall is a beautiful place, unfortunately we were not very lucky with the weather and it was cold, rainy and cloudy. So, as much as I would like, I am not posting any pictures of sunny golden beaches with bright light…Still, even with bad weather, Cornwall has a lot of charm and it is definitely a lovely place and worth visiting. I hope to go back another time, enjoy the wonderful beaches there and take more pictures in a different and brighter light.

These first photos were taken at Porthleven harbour, where there was a mermaid created by students at Helston College. The tail of the mermaid was made with materials such as DVD’s and Coke cans’ pieces. I found this mermaid a very interesting sculpture that added a beautiful touch the the town.

The next few pictures were taken at St Just in Roseland Church. This church is from the 13th century and it has a semi-tropical garden, as you can see there are a lot of palm trees. Who would have thought that these church surroundings are in the UK!

I really really loved St. Ives, even though we arrived a bit too late and it was getting too dark, so that meant I didn’t take so many pictures.

Fuerteventura Holidays

I don’t normally post my personal photos on my blog, I like to keep it a place for my professional projects. However, everytime I shoot film I am keen to share my photos with everyone, for that sense of pride that comes from shooting film.

These photos are from my holidays in Fuerteventura on March/April this year. For the first time in my life I went on a completely relaxing beach holidays, not doing much apart from going to the beach, relaxing in the swimming pool, eating, drinking and sleeping…and it felt wonderful!

We only hired a car one day that the weather was not so good and we visited some other places in the island, like El Cotillo and Betancuria and the most famous beach in the island, Corralejo, which was in the other extreme of the island from where we were staying, Jandia.

These first photos are in Corralejo, a white sandy beach with huge huge dunes.

All the beaches we went to in the island had this stone constructions that you can see below, they are refuges to protect sunbathers from the wind, as Fuerteventura can be a bit windy sometimes.

Betancuria, a small town that we really like.

This was our amazing hotel, the Jandia Princess, the beach was only a few meters away, and everything was just wonderful, the perfect place to relax, I completely recommed this hotel to everyone and I would love to go back again one day.

The North Sea in Blakeney, Norfolk

I hardly ever post any personal pictures on my blog, just those that are part of my work, most of them weddings or engagement shoots.

I decided to post one of those photos that I take for myself this time, as I particularly like this image and not only it is one of my favorites, but it was taken with my film camera, which I am getting to use more lately. I also feel particularly proud of my images taken with my film camera.

Film amaze me every time with the beautiful colors and perfect contrast.

This photo was taken during a weekend trip to Norfolk, in Blakeney.
