Plateau wedding

Well…I cannot believe I am blogging this beautiful wedding of this gorgeous couple after such a long time!

This wedding took place more than a year ago, too many things on my blogging list…

Laura and Danny (see their engagement shoot here) tied the knot in a ceremony  in St. Andrew’s church in Hornchurch and I was covering Laura’s preparations before the ceremony before whilst Kenny, my second photographer, was with the groom.

Routemaster Bus Weddings

From January, I had the idea of doing a compilation of some sort to feature a few different weddings on the same post.

The initial idea was a compilation of all the weddings I shot last year, whith the best of 2012, but already on April, now it seems a bit late for that (I guess this is the kind of thing we do a the start of the year). I thought that instead, I will make a post with photos of all the weddings I shot with routemaster buses.

Routemaster buses are getting a really popular thing, or at least I photograph a good percentage of weddings that have one! Not because it is trendy, but because it is a really great idea, I would recommed to hire one of these buses to couples getting married.

bride and groom and wedding guests having drinks inside and outside a routemaster bus

bride and groom posing inside and in front of a routemaster london bus after the wedding ceremony

Hiring one of these buses is a great solution for how your guests are going to travel from the ceremony to the reception, and not only that, but keeps everyone together, so people gets to chat and have a drink sometimes even before they arrive to the reception. And it is a beautiful background for pictures too (a great plus from my point of view). In one of the weddings you can see on these pictures, they had a number of guests coming from outside London and the bus didn’t just go from point A to B, but it gave the wedding guests a brief taster of the London highlights too.

You can see some of the weddings featured here:

Southend-on-Sea wedding at Porters and Roslin Beach Hotel

I can’t believe it has taken me such a long time to blog one of my favorite weddings ever!

Louise and Dan got married in Southend-on-Sea on August last year and I was lucky to be chosen as their photographer. Their wedding was not only full of beautiful details , but also full of emotion, and this is an excellent combination to get good photos!

Their wedding has also been featured in lovemydress recently with many details given by Louise, so I am not going to go over all of them, but there is only one of them that I really want to share here as I think it is a fantastic story. And this is the way Dan and Louise got to know each other… Louise’s words:

In theory Dan and I should not even be together let alone married. Let me explain; to start with I never actually met Dan before our first date. He saw me dancing in our local bar one cold Sunday night in January 2009 and with Dutch Courage decided to put his number in my coat pocket, an act that I now know was totally out of character for Dan. Dan is actually very shy and retiring unlike me. As I was leaving the bar the number actually fell out of my pocket. A passer-by picked it up and handed it to my friend who passed it to me. As we got outside I opened it to reveal his number and a short message asking me to call him.In normal circumstances I would have binned the note and thought nothing else of it. However, I had made a New Year’s resolution to go out with everyone who asked me so the die was cast. I went and met him in the same bar a week later and we’ve never looked back!

Isn’t it amazing?

And back to the wedding day…I started at the Roslin Beach Hotel with Dan, who was already there taking care of all the details in the room while Louise was getting ready. Some guests were at the Hotel with him and a Routemaster bus was waiting for them outside to take them to Porters, the mayoral residence where the wedding ceremony and drinks reception took place.

Dan and their guests gathered in the garden at Porters, where a marquee had been set up just in case the weather was not good, but luckily this was not an issue and they relaxed there for a little while before it was the time for the ceremony.

groom looking at camera and best man out of focus in the background at southend-on-sea wedding

Louise arrived on a vintage car and looked stunning on her Candy Anthony 1950’s inspired dress. The dress was knee lenght, very appropiate for an August wedding and specially great for the photos after at the beach!

Louise bought her accesories before her dress because she felt in love with this bird cage veil from Victoria Millesime and was also wearing a matching bracelet. Her hair was perfect and the pin curls suit her and her dress really well.

After the ceremony everyone got back to the garden again where there was some time there with drinks and canapes (and some photos too) before going to the Roslin Hotel. They had an ice cream tricycle with a vintage feel that suited very well the whole theme of their wedding. This tricycle and ice creams also made very good opportunities for photos!

And before going to the Roslin Hotel, it was time for a few photos at the beach (right in front of the hotel). Louise changed her shoes for a pair of silver wellies and it was  at this time of the day when the red netting underneath her lace dress came to life.

I usually say that I love central London and urban weddings but…who can resist  a seaside wedding?I absolutely loved this one, having the sea in front of your wedding venue is pretty amazing and I hope to work in Sounthend-on-Sea again in the future.

Renaissance Hotel Wedding: Jennie and Alex

Jennie and Alex got married on October last year and they had a truly amazing wedding, featured a few weeks ago in OMG.The day started at the incredible Renaissance Hotel in St. Pancras, what an amazing venue! the architecture, all the backgrounds, the beautiful dome, the staircase…everything is to die for!Jennie was there with her bridesmaids, having their make-up and hair done by Kirsty from thebeautyfoundation. Her bridesmaids wore different dresses in blue and green peacock feather shades, as this was the theme of the wedding, they also wore peacock feathers on their hair and on their bouquets. Jennie looked stunning on her vintage Sally Lacock dress.

Jennie’s bouquet was from Euphoricflowers

After a couple of hours with the girls it was time for me to get to the church in the heart of the city and wait for Jennie’s arrival there. I had been in the church previously and the first time I saw it I was very impressed by how big and bright St. Helens is.

The ceremony was beautiful and after hugging their families and friends, it was photo time! They had requested some group photos that I took outside the church and then I had the opportunity to be with them alone for a few minutes to get their portraits.

I couldn’t be happier with the location and venues of this wedding, so many backdrops and nice spots for photos, incredible! in around half an hour we got so much variety, outdoors and indoors…The Renaissance hotel is actually the same building as St. Pancras International Rail Station and we went inside the station for some photos in the platform, this one posted here being one of my favorites of the day.

Central London wedding: St. Helen’s Bishopsgate church and St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel, a sneak peek

It looks like once you get your work featured on wedding blogs, everything comes at the same time. Last week was Louise and Dan’s wedding on lovemydress and today is Jennie and Alex’s on OMG.
This is great, and it cannot be a better start of the year, it seems like the 13 is not such a bad number after all!! Quite the contrary on my case :)
As it is being common lately, this is just a sneak peek with two of my favorite photos of the day, which I also put on my website. But I promise that my next blog post will be a full wedding.
The wedding reception was at the absolutely stunning Renaissance Hotel at St. Pancras. Beautiful building inside and out! Amazing architecture! The hotel is communicated with the International train station, so we went there for a few minutes to get some shots. Aren’t train stations romantic?

A seaside wedding in Southend-on-Sea, a sneak peek

I photographed Louise and Dan wedding the 4th of August, so it has been already quite a few months and I still haven’t blogged it yet! It was an amazing seaside wedding, full of beautiful details and Louise really wanted to have her wedding featured in one of the  best wedding blogs in the UK, as wedding blogs had been a source of inspiration for her too. After the wedding submission was accepted, a few weeks after we got there, and that was just two days ago. Now she can inspire other brides too :)I am here today to present a couple of photos to you just in case you missed it, and I’ll be back in no time to do my own feature of the wedding and give credit to the vendors involved in creating such a beautiful day.For me, Louise and Dan wedding is the perfect example that confirms that you don’t have to spend lots of money to have an incredible, original, beautiful wedding full of details. Her dress was second hand and some of the decorations were bought in charities, and  their wedding was absolutely fantastic!I would advice to all the couples getting married on a budget to do what they did, with a little bit of imagination and shopping around, you can create truly beautiful things, and save your money for a beautiful venue, a good photographer, good food or things that you don’t want to compromise the quality on.

These photos were taken in front of reception venue, in one of the beach huts, what a beautiful location!

Thanks Louise and Dan for giving me the opportunity to photograph such a beautiful day!

Marylebone Town Hall wedding: Emily&Ben

I really love central London weddings as Emily and Ben’s! There are multiple backgrounds to use, and the environment of busy streets full of londoners and  tourists is a great opportunity for photos. People looking at the bride and the groom, sometimes even congratulating them as they walk by cause reactions and smiles on them which I love to capture. The day started early in the morning at the Civil Service Club, where Emily got ready and where the wedding reception took place later on the day. A routemaster bus was waiting outside to take her as well as her parents, bridesmaid and close relatives to Marylebone Town hall, where the civil ceremony took place.I traveled with them on the bus and I quickly went inside to the Purple Room where Ben and their guests were waiting for the arrival of the bride to take some shots. This has been my second wedding at Marylebone Town Hall and both have been in the Purple Room. It is a beautiful and elegant room with good lighting, I love taking pictures in there. The whole building, inside and outside makes a beautiful background for wedding photos. After a beautiful ceremony and taking some group photos outside on the steps, we all got on the bus again to go to the Civil Service Club, very close to the river . Emily and Ben were not interested in dedicating a lot of their time posing for photos, so we just went for a few minutes to Embankment bridge and took some very natural and unposed photos from there with some of London’s highlights in the background. After that, they went back to their guests and enjoy their day.

Stevenage wedding: Gina and James

I photographed Gina and James’ wedding in Stevenage one of the many rainy days we had this summer in the UK.
This was a very moody day weatherwise, with a sunny start for Gina’s preparations, starting to rain right at the moment she arrived at the church and with a huge thunderstorm during the ceremony. Luckily the rain stopped just in time for the garden reception before the wedding breakfast was served at the venue.
The reception room was decorated by them and looked amazing in white and pink, the same colors as Gina’s dress.
Gina had her make up done in the morning at a local beauty salon and that was the first time for me being able to photograph this event in a quiet room where only three people were present: Gina the make-up artist and myself.  A clock on the wall gave me something to play with in my compositions and I find these photos with the time very meaningful: an impatient bride waiting for the time to get married.
You can have a look at some of their engagement photos here

Chislehurst wedding: Donna and Luke

I met Donna quite a long time ago, when I had been doing wedding photography for a little while and had only a few weddings in my portfolio. She trusted and loved my work from the very beginning, even bringing her friends to book my services too (I will be the photographer for her friend Zoe in two weeks too). That meant  a lot for me at the time and still does today; I am so happy that after a long wait of a year and a half I got to photograph her wedding on a lovely Saturday on August.
The ceremony was at St. Nicholas Church in Chislehurst, not far from London. A very pretty church with a very pretty bench covered by a low tree that we used for photos after the ceremony, and Donna’s dress was the perfect one for these bench photos! All guests (and myself) traveled from the ceremony site to the reception at Club Langley on a routemaster bus, I am getting really good at shooting on a moving bus!, I have had quite a few weddings this year with a routemaster red bus and I will make a blog post specially with those photos soon.

Marylebone Town Hall wedding: Marie and Sam

I couldn’t wait to blog this great wedding I had the pleasure to photograph last month: Marie & Samuel.
From the very beginning, when I met them and we signed the contract, I felt this was going to be a wedding with tons of great photo opportunities, with a beautiful venue for the wedding ceremony, a vintage red London bus to transport guests from one venue to the other, and finally a very chic and trendy venue for the reception: St Chads Place, a converted warehouse in King’s Cross.
Apart from the venues, the wedding was also full of very photogenic and expressive people, which always helps a lot :)

Marie was beautiful wearing a vintage dress, here she is arriving with her father while everyone waits for her arrival:

And it is the time for one of my favourite part of any wedding: the confetti, congratulations, hugs and kisses! Marylebone Town Hall is a great place for that with the striking high columns.

I was travelling with all the guests and bride and groom in the bus, so I could capture some natural moments there too…a challenging situation taking photographs on a moving bus!

We stopped in our way to St. Chad’s in Lincoln’s Inn Fields for some quick posed photos of Sam and Marie

Marie and Sam’s wedding was full of beautiful details. Every seat had a photo of one of the guests, so they had to find their places by looking at the photos. I found this a very nice way to start the reception, as it was like a game that created a lot of atmosphere and I could capture a lot of reactions and emotions caused by the photographs.

And the speeches…a great time for candids, I love how many smiles and hapiness tears you can capture during those moments

Marie and Sam were not interested in posed photos, as they like more the documentary style, the same as myself,  but we took some quick group photos before I left.

This was my last wedding of the season 2011, and it was a great one to finish the year. I am so looking forward to photograph next one…I love photographing weddings, it is such a pleasure to be part of such an important day on someone’s life!
